So, a quick intro about me.
I’m an engineer by profession. But I abandoned this supposedly “occupation” a long time ago.
2013: The self-help and investing blog
In 2013, I started a blog focused into self-help and investing called Juan Investor while working in corporate.
I wanted to share the lessons I learned from reading books.
And to document my journey in stocks and crypto investing.
I bought the domain and started it on blogger.com.
I didn’t have any idea what to write about or how to optimize my blog for search engines.
After 6 years, it is when I realized my mistakes and revamped Juan Investor.
I migrated it to WordPress.
I bought a WordPress theme called Avada and had fun customizing the website.
Later did I find out how messy the Avada theme is.
So I started researching about the best WordPress themes and learned about Astra, Kadence and GeneratePress.
I finally decided to rebuild Juan Investor using GeneratePress and Chemicloud as hosting.
I also found out about must-have WordPress plugins like:
- Rank Math – SEO plugin
- WPRocket – speed optimization plugin
- FluentForms – forms plugin
- GenerateBlocks – gutenberg builder plugin
I also studied search engine optimization and it was during 2020 where I started to see results.
Finally, I reached 20k traffic in a month and earned an income through Adsense.
Currently, I still write articles in Juan Investor mostly in business and investing topics.
2019: The dropshipping era
In 2019, I quit my corporate job and started exploring online.
It was the dropshipping boom and so I wanted to catch up with the hype.
I built my own Shopify store from scratch and paid the seemingly steep price of $29 monthly subscription.
Searched for products and suppliers in AliExpress and then started running ads on Facebook.
I made a decent income in a few weeks, around $300+.
But it wasn’t sustainable as my credit card limits ran out.
A good friend reached out to me when she saw my post on Facebook about dropshipping.
Randiss was my colleague in corporate and we both personally worked together in some projects.
I found out that she was into freelancing and she was managing Shopify stores for clients.
Then an opportunity came…
2020: Facebook ads freelancer
After a couple of chats with Randiss, it got me interested.
And so I started learning more about what I loved the most: Facebook ads.
After watching hours of YouTube videos and completing a bunch of Facebook ads courses, I started looking for clients.
Luckily enough, Randiss’s client was also looking for a Facebook ads manager.
And that moment was pretty BIG for me for two reasons:
- my dream of making money online started,
- digital marketing is one of the best skills to make money
Since then, I’ve been hooked on digital marketing: SEO, software, startups and investing.

2021: One-person marketing agency
In 2021, I finally decided to start a marketing agency and called it Daveril Digital.
I’ve had a few clients ranging from art, auto parts, beauty, coffee, real estate, and many more.
Currently, I’m actively managing a few couple of clients while pursuing my other interests.
2024 and beyond
With the development of AI, I just couldn’t ignore the opportunities for solopreneurs.
Right now, I’m hooked into AI agents and creating functional apps through AI.
If you’re into these things, send me an email and I’d love to talk about this with you.
