Are you scared of getting hacked? Please don’t.
Here are 5 simple tips to be safe online. And to safeguard your bank accounts and e-wallets.
1. Never share your one-time pin (OTP)
Again don’t share it. Not to your bf/gf, siblings, friends or anyone but yourself.
2. Don’t reuse the same password
If possible, use a password manager app like 1Password, Bitwarden, OneSafe, so you can keep track of your passwords.
These are all FREE apps.
3. Never click links from anonymous sources
It looks like an email from GCash but always verify. Always check the sender’s email to vverify.
It could be a spoofed acount. The same applies to SMS or text message.
4. Enable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA)
You can use Authy or Google Authenticator as your authenticator tool.
Or better yet, use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
What this does is that these apps create dynamic codes that you need to use before you can login to your account.
It’s an extra layer of protection just in case your password gets compromised.
5. Update your password immediately
If there are unauthorized login attempts to your account, change your passwords immediately.
If all things fails, call your bank and have your account locked temporarily.
